Styled By My 8 Year Old

It’s been a while since I could convince my kids to take outfit photos with me and today was the day! Naiya was especially in—and the key was letting her style both of us. She did such a great job coming up with these early fall looks so I’m excited to share some of our favorite shots, and outfit links below.

It’s still hot in Los Angeles during the day, but it’s getting cooler at night for the first time in forever and it feels amazing. Prior to this drop in temperature, we’ve been sweating our tushies off in 100 degree heat for what feels like months. We’re ready to pull out all the fall layers and boots over here—but we know we still have up to two months to really be able to wear our favorite fall without overheating.

Outfits Of The Day Styled By Naiya

Naiya was SO excited to wear her new white boots today which we scooped up for school this year. She paired them with this one-shouldered blue dress. As the weather starts to drop more, she’s excited to layer this dress under her favorite sweaters.

For me, she picked out these suede leather boots, and a button-down dress I’ve been living in all summer. To help bring this dress into fall, she layered on one of my favorite classic trench coats. If you’re in the market for a timeless trench, THIS is the one to buy. I’ve had it for a couple of years now and I’ve gotten so much use out of it, and it still feels brand new.

Family Updates

My kids are getting big so quickly, in looking at these photos of Naiya, I truly can’t believe it. She turned 8 at the end of August and she’s in third grade. Sadie is turning 6 at the end of October and she’s in kindergarten this year. School has been going great and getting back into a routine after such a busy summer has been so amazing.

Prior to having kids, I never understood just how insane summer can be for parents—with schedules all over the place, and having to figure out camp months in advance. I feel so much more like myself now that the girls are back in school, and I can tell that Naiya and Sadie are thriving too.
